Hi Paul, I've been a fan of your way of playing the game for years with what appears to be a kind of "look at the shot and then play the thing" kind of way. Anyhow I am 19 handicapper who will regularly have 50 shots on the front nine and be 10 or 12 better on the back. I think I've got a score in me somewhere but how do you get the head right? Thanks Tom

Tom Hickey

Hi there Tom, thanks for the message. You really need to trust your swing - if you can it's always advisable to hit a few practice shots before you go out and play - just to loosen up and get your swing in shape. Concentrate on each shot separately and make sure you select the correct club for the shot and feel confident that it's the right one. Don't get ahead of yourself and if you have a bad hole just put it behind you. I wish you the best of luck with your golf. Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, Just letting you know that I played Macreddin today and I was really pleased with what I saw. It's definitely up there with the best golf courses I have ever played. It is in great condition and green fees were great value at 20 euros. Keep up the good work and best of luck for the future. Willie

Willie Fitzharris

Hi Willie, thanks so much for the message - it's always great to get feedback from people who've played the course and I'm really delighted that you enjoyed it so much. Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, Whilst recently in Ireland, I read a very interesting article in the Irish press regarding a company you and a partner were setting up to hire golf clubs abroad .Specifically at Malaga whereby you could order clubs prior to departure and collect at the destination airport. Is there any further news regarding progress on this fantastic idea and do you have a commencement date in mind? Many thanks and the best of luck for the future. Alan

Alan James

Hi Alan, yes this is all going to happen and hopefully will be launched at Malaga in June 2010. We've had such a lot of interest in this venture and hope for real success with it. Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, I hope the knee is getting better. When will we see you back on the tour?

Mick McCarthy

Hi Mick, well things are improving and I'm currently in the US doing some practice. Hopefully I shall be returning to the Tour for the Hassan II Trophy in Morocco. Cheers, Paul.

Paul I hope your recovery is going well. I know you don't really know the answer to this but will we see you here in the states & if so do you have any idea when. Its been nearly 2 years since The bridgestone !!!!! Thanks, Niall on Cape Cod

Niall J Hopkins

Hi Niall, thanks for the message. The recovery from my knee operation has been slower than I hoped for but hopefully I will be teeing it up in the AT & T at Pebble Beach and maybe before that in Europe. Kind Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, I've been following you for a couple of years now and I was dismayed to see you hadn't made it to Birkdale. However this year I was at Turnberry wearing a ridiculous Leprachaun hat and a tri-colour shirt. I followed you and Padraig and as an Anglo-Irishman I was glad to see both yourself and Graeme McDowell paired together. I must ask though, do you prefer a two iron to a rescue club (I've seen you use the trusty 2 before). Crofty

Archie Croft

Hi Archie, I no longer use a 2 iron, and haven't done since the British Open, as, after much searching, I have finally found a rescue club that can keep the ball low and be used out of bad lies. Glad you had a good time at Turnberry. Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your kindness at Letterkenny Golf Club in July when I watched you play. It was a pleasure to meet you and watching you for 9 holes, was the highlight of my holiday. I will always keep the glove you gave me and signed for me. You are a gentleman. Dave

Dave McComiskey

Hi Dave, thanks so much for your message and I'm extremely honoured to be the highlight of your holiday!! Glad you like the glove! Kind Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, Well done in the Open tied 43rd aint bad considering the conditions! It was a pity about Tom though i was sure he could win, Anyway i followed you round for the four days you've a top class swing well done!! Best of luck for the rest of the season, Deano.

Dean Milne

Hello there Dean, thanks for the message - Turnberry was certainly playing tough - especially when that wind got up! I'm really looking forward to the rest of the seaon and thanks for your support. Kind Regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, Good luck for the Scottish open over the next few days and hope things also go well for you at Turnberry next week. Did the Skin So Soft work and stop the midges and did you get any abuse from the other players for the smell. Sorry we didnt get to meet you around the course, but pleased to have been of some assistance. Phil

Phil Dawson

Hi Phil, thanks for that - all going pretty well so far! The Skin so Soft definitely works well and must say loads of the guys have it in their bags this week so no abuse has been coming my way. Thanks again, Paul.

Hi Paul, I recently watched you play in Spain and it was a great experience to watch a world class player in action. My son is 7 and has just started playing at our local golf club with the young tiger group, what advice could you give him for this exciting time ahead of him? Kind Regards Jerry

Jerry Whyton

Hi Jerry, these group lessons for youngsters are just brilliant and he will learn such a lot from it. It is great as they all start at the same time and can get really competitive with each other! I would suggest that he just listens to what the pro says and practises when he has some free time but the most important thing is for to enjoy himself. Wish him all the best from me. Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, I have watched you at The Celtic Manor Resorts and you played really well also I want to know how could I improve my short game? Do you always focus the ball to practice or body movement? Best, Paul

Paul Wilson

Dear Paul, generally speaking with the short game I tend to place a fraction more of my weight on my left side at address, which helps me create a good wrist hinge on the way back fot the ideal angle of attack into the ball. Overall, it's important not to let your body become too static. Allow your uppler body to turn towards the target through the downswing and ensure you retain good flext in your knees thoughout the swing. This will prevent any jerky clubhead movements and improve your feel for distance. Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, I would just like to congratulate you on getting your first ever Albatross on the 4th (and last hole of the afternoon (shot gun start Pro Am)) hole at Wentworth today (20.05.09). It my pleasure to have been a caddie in that group and witness the occasion. I must also thank you for giving me your signed glove at the end of the round. That really made the afternoon. All the very best wishes for the tournament.

Andrew Pearson

Dear Andrew, thanks for writing in and I'm glad that you had such an enjoyable day. I could have done with a few more albatrosses on Friday but not to be! Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Paul, Good to see are feeling positive and hopefully your confidence will get a further boost from the extra support from the crowds in Ireland and the UK. As you say, it would be nice to see this converted into some good results, as you more than deserve it! Best wishes for the month ahead. Els

Els D'Anvers

Hi Els, thanks for the message. I've been working hard on my game and am looking forward to some good results. Baltry is testing for all of us this week - the weather is playing a big part in the proceedings. Thanks for your support. Kind regards, Paul.

Hi Paul. I have a few pictures of your swing in a golf mag that i cut out and often use as reference to where my swing should be through the golf shot. My weakest part of my game is off the tee with a driver. I`ve been thinking of buying the Explanar to help me train my golf swing. My question to you is, would it be worth spending all this money on the product to help my swing and does it actually work? Thanking you. Derek

Derek Furlong

Dear Derek, sorry to hear you're experiencing troubles off the tee. I reckon if I were in your shoes I'd go and see a PGA professional that uses the Explanar and try it out there. I think a course of lessons would really help and negate the need for you to actually shell out a load of money to buy one just for yourself. Good luck, Paul.

Hi Paul. After such a consistent season last year I have been very surprised with your form. Please stay working hard and I know you'll be in the winning enclosure again soon. I believe you should be in the worlds top 50, and I know you can still win a major. Believe in yourself. You have the game, just show us. You have had a poor start to the season. Put that behind you and start playing good golf again. I look forward to following your ascent to the top of world golf again, just look at Kenny Perry, your a young lad in comparison. I would say good luck but you won't need it! Best wishes, Eoin.

Eoin Dervan

Hi there Eoin, thanks for the message. It has been a disappointing start to the season and I'm pleased that I had two good rounds in China - the putter deserted me on day three but it was a real confidence builder to shoot 68 on Sunday and haul my way up the leaderboard again. I really feel my game's coming into shape nicely now and am looking forward to the rest of the season. Regards, Paul.
