A Great Team Effort
Posted: 29th September 2009
After all the excitement of captaining the Great Britain and Ireland Team in the Vivendi Seve Trophy last week, I return to playing for myself at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship this week in Scotland.
I thoroughly enjoyed my captaincy last week although I have to admit I was very envious of my team as they played but it was an absolute pleasure for me to captain 10 players who were so excited about playing for me and listening to my ideas on team play during the week.
I have to say aside from being wonderful golfers, I was hugely impressed with the manner in which they all conducted themselves as people and individuals and that is the thing that impressed me most, as I was very well aware of the quality of the golf. It was quite incredible to beat such a strong European team by a record equalling margin, considering we had to play with only 9 men for the last 2 days due to an unfortunate injury in the 2nd series of matches to Anthony wall.
The Dunhill is one of my favourite tournaments of the year and I really hope the draw favours me in returning to play with my good friend Kyle Maclachlan, who I have partnered on many occasions in the past years. For those of you who follow TV programmes, you will know Kyle best for his part in Desperate Housewives and Twin Peaks.
It will be great to carry on from the success achieved last week.
Bye for now, Paul.
